{Now That You're Near!}

And now that You're near
Everything is different
Everything's so different, Lord
And I know I'm not the same
My life You've changed
And I wanna be with You
I wanna be with You
And I will sing for You always
'Cause in Your presence God is where I wanna stay

I was too lazy to reopen my blog, meh.

A school year has come to a close so quickly. Time passes too quickly for me to savour every moment of it. In a flurry of events, time has flew past, leaving me standing in a void and wondering where I am. This is true in a sense; I feel like there's something missing from this end that causes it to lack the "oomph" that makes the year end on a fulfilling note. *nods to HaiSong*

I just enjoyed an intellectually stimulating afternoon at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf with my dear friend WeiQiang. We were discussing theories on origins of male homosexuality (in a serious context) and fantasizing about a Charmed episode that will never make it to the production studios. Imagine: what would happen if witches, warlocks and demons with scientifically-explainable powers were a lot closer to you than you suspected?

Another scintillating point of discussion today was on how today's youth are becoming increasingly shallow. This is why I told WeiQiang that if I could, I would make every secondary student take a higher-order thinking subject like Philosophy, because it keeps fresh minds alive and prevent them from sinking into the plane of the mundane. People nowadays simply love to complain too much and become decidedly blind to the world around them; I want my good results and everything else is secondary! I hate my country, I want to live in America! I don't like the food I'm served; I demand McDonald's! Youth, even people I know, are becoming so frustratingly mundane and shallow that they are incapable of counting their blessings. Be thankful for what you have; instead of complaining about everything under the sun, why not say, thank God I'm cancer-free! Luckily I'm born into a comfortable home, comfortable lifestyle! I'm so fortunate to have food to eat!? Has modern society cast a veil over the minds of our youths?

I am typing this blog post after watching the ten o' clock Chinese news that has just announced even more food products that are unfit for consumption. This year is definitely a terrible year; Sichuan earthquake, Myanmar disasters, the China milk scandal, and most recently, the financial recession which is gripping the world in its ugly hands. Now, even Nissin Cup Noodle, my most adored comfort food, has been taken away from me due to its containing of insecticide (waddaf*ck?). With whom shall I spend my nights up late with in future?

But on a more mature note; what is God trying to tell us? Is this a worldwide punishment for avarice, or merely a prelude to greater things? And who are we humans to know?

And after these issues die down, what are we to expect next?

"Everything is different
Everything's so different, Lord."
